Volunteers undergo a background check and, if they want to drive, a DMV check. They also attend a volunteer training and orientation session. These sessions cover privacy and confidentiality, communications tips and what you can expect as a volunteer. Attendance at a training session is necessary before you can provide volunteer services. LOWLINC’s Volunteer Committee provides ongoing training and support.
Driver volunteers transport members to healthcare and other appointments. Trips are either within LOW, right outside the gate, or within a 25-mile radius.
Volunteer Benefits
While our volunteers report that serving our members is a benefit in itself, LOWLINC volunteers also receive access to our list of service providers (e.g., electricians, plumbers, landscapers) that have been recommended by members and volunteers. Volunteers are welcome to participate with members in social activities and outings.
